Vaccinations and Other Requirements
- Cats staying at Casey's Place must have been examined by a veterinarian within one year previous to their visit.
- Cats staying at Casey's Place must be current on vaccinations for rabies and "distemper." The vaccination referred to as the distemper vaccine usually covers three viruses - panleukopenia, rhinotracheitis and calcivirus. It is also referred to by a series of capital letters which differ depending on the manufacturer and what all it covers. If you tell your vet the distemper vaccine he or she will know what you mean. Your cats can contract these diseases even if they never go outside.
- We MUST have a copy of your paperwork from your vet verifying your cat(s) are current on their vaccines. We must have a copy we can keep on file at Casey's Place.
- Should medical care be necessary while your cat is staying at Casey's Place he or she will be taken to your personal veterinarian during normal business hours and to an emergency clinic outside of normal business hours. You will be responsible for all veterinary charges.
- Please note that cats with medical conditions can be stressed being away from home which can complicate their medical condition. We must be able to seek veterinary care for your cat whenever we feel it is necessary - including going to an emergency clinic. You will be responsible for all veterinary charges.
- We will not "brush" or clean a cat's teeth while they are here.
- Cats with an active, contagious illness will not be allowed into Casey's Place.
- Cats over 1 year old must be spayed/neutered.
- Cats must be in an enclosed, secure carrier when arriving and leaving Casey's Place. Please check the weight limit when you purchase a carrier for your cat - they can break open if you exceed that limit.
- All cats arriving for a visit will be checked for fleas. Cats arriving with fleas will be given a flea bath and treated with Frontline Plus at a cost of $50.00. At Casey's Place we take fleas very seriously and would prefer your cat did not arrive with fleas. Your cat can have fleas even if it never goes outside. Please talk to your vet if you're not sure if your cat has fleas, or how to get rid of them if that is necessary.
- Light coat brushing may be done on cats who receive that as part of their daily routine at home. However it will be done only if the cat allows and is not stressed by it. We will not do full brush outs or mat removal.
